Chitipa, MALAWI – Northern Region Football Socials (NRFS) has donated assorted items valued at K530,000 to elderly people in Chitipa District to support the welfare and livelihoods of vulnerable people.
The donation was made on Sunday following the conclusion of a two-day Northern Region Football Socials tournament held in the district.
The tournament aimed at promoting physical fitness and strengthening social interaction among football enthusiasts from the region.
NRFS Treasurer General, Frank Kamanga, said the organisation decided to support vulnerable groups, particularly elderly people who could not attend the football matches and celebrate with the participants at the tournament.

“The donation package for each beneficiary includes two packets of sugar, five tablets of Azam soap, four packets of soya pieces, one litre of cooking oil, 1.5 kilogrammes of salt and one wrapper, locally known as a chitenje,” Kamanga said.
One of the beneficiaries, 70-year-old Edeli Masebo from Manse 3 Village under Group Village Head Mkombanyama, thanked NRFS for considering the elderly saying the donation is timely.
