Karonga, MALAWI – The Member of Parliament for Karonga Songwe Constituency, Mungasulwa Mwambande, has assured his constituents that challenges associated with poor road networks and inadequate bridge infrastructure will be addressed during his tenure.
Speaking after inspecting various development projects underway in the constituency, including the construction of Kakorya Bridge at Ighembe-Kitwika, Mwambande said the projects would improve mobility, enhance connectivity and boost small-scale businesses in the area.
“For a long time, communities have struggled with poor road networks, particularly during the rainy season. However, the ongoing construction of roads and bridges will improve connectivity, stimulate economic activities and help reduce poverty among the people,” he said.

Mwambande appealed to community members to cooperate with contractors and provide the necessary support to ensure that the projects are completed on time, before the onset of the rainy season.
Meanwhile, Central Mega Limited and Ipian Contractors, who are respectively constructing Kakorya and Mwakamogho bridges, have assured the legislator and the community that construction works are progressing well and pledged to complete the projects as soon as possible.
The construction of the bridges is among the development initiatives being implemented under the Reformed Constituency Development Fund.
